Imagine strolling down a picturesque cobbled street in Italy or somewhere hidden away in the Mediterranean and stopping into a local café for coffee and something light to snack on, and you might not be too far off the Manita vibe. Previously a BQM location until early 2020, this Ossington café is fast cementing itself as a staple in the neighbourhood.

Entering through the front door, you are greeted by a friendly scene with a European aesthetic, a small dining room filled with dainty tables and rattan backed chairs. The side wall is dedicated to the boutique retail offerings that include food supplies from olive oil you could drink with a spoon to sardines straight from Italy and a selection of exciting and unique wines.

But we’ve come here for coffee, and it doesn't disappoint! With beans sourced in partnership with Nile Coffee Club (@nilecoffee) a locally black owned business who focuses on highlighting blends from the African diaspora, the coffee is rich and satisfying. My oat flat white ($6.78) is beautiful and smooth and gives the real kick all coffee drinkers are after. Manita also offers a yummy selection of sandwiches for brunch and larger platters to share over a glass or two of wine.

Sitting on the side street patio on a hot summers morning with your coffee and pastry or relaxing with friends in the evening with an aperol spritz, lets you feel as through you’ve been transported to a faraway holiday and that’s the feeling we’re all searching for… isn’t it?

Happy Coffee Drinking!
